AEG’s history has made it an integral part of German industrial culture. The long-lived AEG company owes its founding to engineer Emil Rathenau, who in 1883 bought the German licence for the Edison bulb patents and created the "Deutsche Edison Gesellschaft" (DEG, i.e. German Edison Company) in Berlin.
AEG marked a milestone by developing household appliances and strengthened its reputation among German households. Its vacuums, like the "Dandy" and its successor the "Vampyr", radiators, refrigerators, electric stoves and washing machines revolutionised home life.
Since then AEG has never stopped refining its technological profile, and it continuously creates innovative products that become benchmarks in their sectors, in both form and function. As a household appliance maker, AEG was always one step ahead with respect to creativity. It embodied German design culture, using terms like "corporate visual identity" at a time well before they were defined.
At the very outset of the 20th century, AEG became the first company to hire on an industrial designer in the person of architect and artist Peter Behrens. He was to leave a lasting imprint on AEG’s image.
Since that time, the recognised and respected brand AEG has been known for timeless, functional and user-friendly design, and it continues to receive prizes for such, like the Red Dot and the iF-Design-Award.
Today, AEG Télécommunication now offers on the French home telephony market a range of elegant products that provide genuine ease of use to meet every consumer’s needs.
